IvySmart School Year Programs

Ivy’s After-School Program encompasses the same ideals represented in our summer program.

We offer a pick-up service for most of the schools in the greater Torrance and Palos Verdes areas for a fee. As such, parents don’t have to worry about dropping their children off at our facility.

The After-School Program is open from Monday to Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 P.M. A similar alternating curriculum of English and writing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and Math on Tuesdays and Thursdays is used.

Students in the program get a chance to not only receive help with the school homework they are assigned, but their learning is supplemented with the classes taught at Ivy. The program is the perfect place for their child to be if they have bad procrastination habits, need extra help, or require a studious, academic environment to help them excel with their schoolwork.

If a student requires even more supplemental help, Ivy can also arrange one-on-one tutoring regarding most, if not all, subjects. One-on-one tutoring is great for students who require personal help with subjects they constantly struggle with.

Our small class sizes and close student-teacher interaction ensure that students who are struggling with their studies are given enough supplemental help. Ivy takes pride in offering one of the most extensive after-school programs currently offered!

PSAT/SAT Program
One of the primary goals of Ivy League School is to cater to the needs of high school students who need to take the SAT. The SAT is a standardized test that is used by colleges to place students for admission. A great SAT score goes a long way in establishing the student’s credibility and providing colleges with a way to gauge the student’s academic strength and eligibility for the specific college.

Ivy offers dedicated guidance to help our students realize dreams of being accepted into prestigious colleges and universities from Ivy League Universities to the universities of California. Over the past two decades, 96% of our students have been accepted into UCs, with 60% acceptance into UCLA, UC Berkeley, and other Ivy League Universities.

PSAT: the PSAT program allows students to experience the general academic requirements of the SAT without being too committed regarding time and finances. Individual tests are given every week alternating between English and Math, with the teachers covering the test material after each successive test date. This program is a great way for younger students to try SAT-level questions and gauge their prowess when it comes to preparation for the SAT.

SAT: Ivy’s SAT program is one of the most comprehensive ones offered by anyone in the Southbay area. Our SAT curriculum encompasses all four subjects tested by the actual SAT itself: Math, Writing, Reading and Comprehension, and Grammar. The program meets twice a week, on Fridays and Saturdays—with Friday including math tuition, and Saturday comprising of the English tuition and the full (three and a half hours long) SAT mock-test. Students are thoroughly tested on the material necessary to obtain a competitive SAT score. Most who take it enjoy an aggregate of a 300-point increase after completing the program.

AP/Subject Testing
"Advanced Placement" (AP) is a program of college-level courses offered at many high schools. Courses are available in many subject areas, including English, history, humanities, languages, math, psychology and science.

It's time to start thinking about which AP courses grab your interest, and how they might start you on the right path to college and career success. This program prepares students for the AP Examinations that are administered each year in May and represent the culmination of college-level work in a given discipline in a secondary school setting. Rigorously developed by committees of college and AP high school faculty, the AP Exams test students' ability to perform at a college level.
